GANGTOK,: The Press Club of Sikkim (PCS) executive committee held a meeting at PCS in Gangtok with former executive committee as part of ‘handing and taking of Press Club of Sikkim’ on Monday. The new executive committee was led by president Bhim Rawat in presence of former president Shekhar Khawas and the previous executive committee.

On the occasion, former treasurer Ambar Gurung highlighted the finances of PCS in the year 2022-24.

Former PCS president Shekhar Khawas shared, “We had less experience as an executive committee, but as per our best efforts we have carried our duties. This time both the experienced and the enthusiastic members are present in the new executive committee. If necessary, we are always there as members to help the Press Club of Sikkim”.

PCS president Bhim Rawat asserted on the duty of the new executive committee as well as maintaining the dignity of a journalist along with the well-being of Press Club of Sikkim and its members. He said, “The previous committee has done satisfactory work. The documents on finances of PCS have been handed over. They have aided the journalists in need as well as carried out the annual events of PCS”.

The PCS president asserted on taking ownership of PCS by all 144 registered members towards the organization. “We need experienced people to help us. Executive committee presses on the need for unity of Press Club of Sikkim. Team work has a different outcome. There should be active participation. May the difference be not be seen between members and executive members in their work towards the club”, said Rawat.

Later, the newly formed executive committee held a meeting where the decision was taken for the renewed registration of the Press Club of Sikkim. Sports secretary Vishnu Neopaney took the responsibility for renewal of registration along with the necessary process and document submission to the State Law department.  

For registration of new members as well as renewal of membership, the forms will be available at PCS office till May 16. For new membership Rs. 1000 is registration and membership fee which includes the membership fee of Rs. 600 for 2 years. Similarly, defaulters who have not paid the membership fees will have to pay Rs. 1000 as fine along with membership fee of Rs. 1000 (inclusive of renewal of membership).

The executive committee also unanimously decided on five-member advisory committee comprising of Kishore Moktan, Amit Patro, Puran Tamang, Wangchuk Bhutia, and Sushma Chettri (Mangar).
